Born on the land of his Wiradjuri Ancestors, Johnny was raised on the ‘Murrie Aboriginal Reserve’, on the outskirts of the central NSW town of Condobolin. He was a child who suffered from a debilitating illness leaving him to face a great deal of physical and emotional pain. In addition to this he was also impacted upon by an environment that included domestic violence and racial discrimination.
As a man now in his fifties, John has overcome many of the effects from his troubled childhood, using the experiences of his past to inspire the healing messages he presents in his songs today.
